Here is what Day One looks like.

8:00 am

The question arrives. On your phone in London, your brother’s in Sydney, Mum’s on the kitchen tablet. Today’s question is: ‘What did your first week of work teach you that school never did?’

Lunchtime

You answer first. A thirty second voice note while you’re walking to the car. Going first is the whole job. The first voice gives everyone else permission.

Evening

The replies begin to land. Your brother types three lines. Mum records four minutes, including a story about her first boss that none of you had ever heard before. It’s saved before bedtime, forever.

The questions families ask

Who counts as my twelve?

Anyone you call family. Blood, marriage, chosen. You decide who has a seat at your table.

Can we add people later?

Yes of course. Seats can be filled, and refilled, any time. Grandchildren grow into theirs.

What if only three of us ever use it?

Then three voices are kept forever that would not have been. Most families will start with two or three. The table fills from there, and an empty seat costs nothing.

My parents aren’t good with technology.

If they can answer the phone, they can do this. Answers can be spoken, not typed, and anyone in the family can record anyone else too. Inside the membership there are lots of ways for people to engage. There will be something for everyone.

What happens to it all when I pass away?

It passes on to the person you choose. When you join, you nominate someone who will be sent your access if you should pass away, so everything you have recorded reaches your family in your own voice. Your seat becomes part of the family’s answer bank, and a new Trustorian simply goes first from then on.

What if we stop?

You download everything and keep it. We would rather your grandchildren have the stories than we have the subscription.
